On the morning of February 17, 2023, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Tra Vinh province coordinated with the People’s Committee of Chau Thanh district to hold a ceremony to announce the Decision and receive the Provincial Relic Ranking Certificate – pagoda historical relic, Padumavansa Kompong Thmo (Lo Gach Pagoda).
Attending the ceremony, from the leaders of Tra Vinh province were Mr. Kien Banh, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Mr. Thach Boi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; On Chau Thanh district’s side, there were Ms. Kien Thi Thanh Xuan, Standing Member of the District Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Council, Mr. Do Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of the District People’s Committee. Attending the ceremony were also representatives of leaders of provincial departments, branches and organizations, district departments and organizations, and retired officers; leaders of the Party Committee, People’s Committee of Luong Hoa commune, departments and unions of Luong Hoa commune, Ba Se A hamlet People’s Committee, Padumavansa Kompong Thmo Pagoda Management Board, historical witnesses and people.
Padumavansa Kompong Thmo Pagoda is a pagoda rich in revolutionary tradition. During the two resistance wars against the French and Americans, the pagoda was a place to hold meetings and gather forces to participate in protests, political struggles, and military mobilization; contact point to revolutionary bases in the province in general and Chau Thanh district in particular; where many revolutionary cadres were housed and sheltered. In addition, the pagoda is also a solid rear base providing weapons, medicine, and food for the revolution, greatly contributing to the struggle against invaders to liberate the country. After liberation, Padumavansa Kompong Thmo Pagoda actively contributed human and local resources in building an increasingly developed homeland.
With the typical values on Padumavansa Kompong Thmo Pagoda, the Provincial People’s Committee issued Decision No. 2256/QD-UBND dated November 21, 2022, classifying it as a provincial-level relic as a historical relic.

On this occasion, a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Chau Thanh district was awarded to the Pagoda Management Board and a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People’s Committee of Luong Hoa commune was awarded to 2 individuals with achievements in the work of protecting, preserving and promoting. monument value.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Thach Boi, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, requested the local authorities at all levels to promote propaganda and educate people of all ages to properly understand the meaning, value and importance of monuments; Pay attention to direct the preservation, restoration, and completely effective, and long-term promotion of historical and cultural values of relics to propagate and educate the present and future generations so they can follow and study.
On behalf of Chau Thanh district, Mr. Do Minh Tien, Vice Chairman of Chau Thanh district People’s Committee, expressed his joy at Padumavansa Kompong Thmo pagoda being ranked. The ranking aims to honor the historical and cultural values of the relic today and is an encouragement to the Party Committee, government and people of Chau Thanh district.
